Hobson Industries showed, for the first time, 'The Green Machine,' an Asset Managed Land Rover Truck Utility Medium General Service (TUM GS) Hardtop 12/24v 300TDI 110 Vehicle; M/Y 1992 at DVD.

Hobson Industries has rebuilt a number of vehicles under contract to the UK MoD using asset managed parts and genuine new parts in an initiative which had its origins in a contract let in 2003 where Hobsons built two vehicles from three written off vehicles.

"Asset Managed Parts help our environment by saving energy and natural resources. You can play your part by using ours". We proved that it was possible, using our Asset Management techniques, to salvage well over 60% of existing parts from wrecked vehicles and Asset Manage them to build 'as new' vehicles. We hold an extensive quantity of Asset Managed Land Rover parts in stock. In addition an Asset Managed Land Rover has better fuel consumption, is more reliable and makes better use of assets – Peter Hobson, Managing Director of Hobson Industries said.

We have taken over the liability to dispose of the MoDs caste fleet using our EU Approved disposal system; thus any liability to the Fleet Owner under the Environmental Protection Act for disposal of its vehicles has been absolved.

The importance of actively demonstrating green credentials is growing – no longer can the disposal element of Fleet Management be regarded as an inconvenience at the end of a life cycle. The ability to demonstrate a highly responsible and environmentally sound attitude to redundant fleet vehicles is a necessity. With the right approach it is possible to combine a policy that addresses environmental concerns, with the benefit of cost reduction in the Through Life support cycle.

The powertrain is stronger and more durable than the earlier units, the emissions improved and the vehicle life extended significantly. The 'Green' element of the "Green Machine" is massive, as the cycle of disposal and replacement is extended, thus the requirement for fleet replacement is pushed further into the future – Energy and Resources are conserved, the vehicle itself uses a more environmentally beneficial powertrain and the policy of ensuring commonality of a large percentage of spares with later fleet variants means minimal increases in the parts pool.

The Land Rover is probably the most eco-friendly vehicle in the world giving a competitive advantage when it comes to recycling and recuperation over its competitors.

The Green Machine demonstrates real Through Life Support as supplied by Hobson Industries.
